Georgia Gems

A gem is a mineral or pearl that has been cut, polished and used in jewelry and/or decoration.

A gem also refers to anything that has value and beauty.

A person can be a gem.

Georgia has two state gems: quartz and amethyst.  Amethyst is purple quartz.

  1. I have just encountered your blog as I make my way through the A to Z Challenge and I have to say I think it is a "gem" in itself - wonderful photographs and lovely to discover things about Georgia - a state I know little about - being from the U.K. So nice to meet you :) Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace

    1. Thank you for your kind comments. What is ordinary for someone who lives in a place can be of interest to someone living elsewhere.

  2. I didn't realize Georgia had amethyst. I love amethyst. Your expansion of the definition of "gem" in photos is genius.

  4. Hello,
Here from the A-Z, and your pics are stunning. The amethyst sunset sky especially so. I know very little about USA, live a long way away so found your post both informative and interesting. Nice to meet you.
    Best wishes.

    1. Who doesn't love a dragon. That particular tree has more than one dragon when you look at its limbs.

  7. Gorgeous photos! It would be nice to visit Georgia one day. I was at Atlanta airport once, but that doesn't count.

Your thoughts.

Look out A to Z, I'll be back.

A to Z theme reveal. Well this theme is pretty weak. It is Dogs I have loved, fairy tales, myths, cats birds and what grows in my yard...  ...
