Ocmulgee National Monument
People don't always know what they have. I would love to go to see the Pyramids of Egypt. But I have seen something as exceptional and they are the Indian Mounds. Three locations have been made into Parks in Georgia. They are Kolomoki, Etowah and Ocmulgee.

ReplyDeleteWhat marvelous pictures. Years ago my husband and I visited a Native American burial mound in Southern Illinois. I wish we'd taken pictures. I only have a vague memory of the experience.

ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine a civilization thriving here for thousands of years before the Europeans arrived. Thank goodness someone woke up and preserved the mounds.
