I’m on an alligator hunt. Carefully stepping over logs and through the brush, a chipmunk scurries out of sight. I think I feel a bite.

wow, amazing.
ReplyDeleteNature is surely amazing.
Deleteall great pictures; the last one is a bit creepy!

I don't know. The last picture makes me think of a piece of jewelry. However, alligators are fearsome creatures.
Deleteawww they're so cute! from over here.
ReplyDeleteSo true about many dangerous things, from a distance you can admire their beauty. lol
DeleteI think you'd be the hunted if you tried to mess with them.
ReplyDeleteYou have to respect them. They especially like dog. So it is best not to tread water where they live.
DeleteYeah, that last one is quite, uh, creepy. Can you imagine taking a swim and running into a set of eyes like that?
ReplyDeleteI had not thought of that. I don't imagine you would have to look at them long.
DeleteCool shots! You feel a bite, it's probably too late.
ReplyDeleteA bit of silliness on my part. Hopefully, it was a mosquito.
Deletestopping by and now running away. Don't want to be chomped
ReplyDeleteSmart thinking on your part. lol
DeleteAlligators are scary. Whenever I see one I think how terrifying a dinosaur would have been because surely they would have the same cold eyes.

I have a healthy respect for them and most other creatures. Lizards and the like are not my cup of tea; but, a teacher I worked with had a pet lizard for the students and it made me appreciate them more.
DeleteFunny you should mention alligators today...I have family who once lived in the Everglades. They seemed to take it in stride when alligators wandered onto the porch - or into the house - ack! I avoid iguanas and gila monsters too;-) Great pictures, Ann!
ReplyDeleteMy father comes from near the Okefenokee Park. They were tough people for sure.
DeleteGreat pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks to wikipedia commons. I've seen alligators and taken photos but not as good as these.
DeleteI like picture #3 best--never been close enough to see such eyes, but then again don't want to be! And I like the poetry in the opening lines :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kendra, one thing I have discovered traveling the blogosphere is a love of poetry.
DeleteThis certainly gives Hank the creeps! Never want to mess around with any of it. Apparently the crocs had not evolved too much from the dinosaur days
ReplyDeleteHank
Sorry hank, they are actually just big lizards. As long as you aren't in water, you have the upperhand. Unless you test fate and act stupid.
DeleteI've never lived around alligators, and never wanted to. Even from this distance, they are frightening.
ReplyDeleteI have a healthy respect for them. I have encountered them on occasion, I am not that frightened of them. Careful is a more appropriate description of what I feel.
DeleteThese lines have given me quite a fright! I have never seen an alligator up close or from far for that matter... These images are stunning or scary - depending on how one looks at them.
ReplyDeleteHappy AtoZing!

I wrote the lines in jest. I'm sure the bite was a small bug.
